The Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Establishes Ties with the Swedish Market
The Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace has established contacts with the Swedish market as part of its outreach efforts, which are a priority for the new administration under Christodoulos Topsidis.
During the previous period, the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace (EMTH) made contacts with executives from the Swedish food market. Now, businesses from the EMTH region, with their high-quality products, are reaching out to Northern European countries so that consumers can become familiar with and seek out their products on supermarket shelves.
This initiative, funded by the EMTH Region, has had positive results and will continue to support the export nature of our businesses.
From these meetings, a date has been set for November 2024 at the Food Exhibition in Stockholm, where food and beverages from producers in the region will be presented. Additionally, four cooperation agreements with food trading and distribution companies in the Swedish market have been reached, marking the first outcomes of the EMTH Region’s initiative to strengthen its exports to European markets.
At the two-day meeting, 8 representatives of Swedish companies in the food import sector and major supermarket chains held B2B meetings with 30 business representatives from across the region, as well as the Deputy Regional Governor for Agricultural Economy, Environment, and Energy, Argyris Patakakis.
This was the first meeting, and the positive results already recorded highlight the need to continue similar outreach initiatives, which are a priority for Regional Governor Christodoulos Topsidis, as they significantly contribute to the development of the local economy.
The first day’s meetings included product tastings from the participating businesses, as well as their evaluation. The second day saw B2B meetings between the businesspeople and the producers. The program also included a tour and introduction to the sights of Kavala.
