The Swedish Market Opens for Beverages and Foods Produced in the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace (REMTH)
“A meeting in November 2024 at the Food Exhibition in Stockholm, to present foods and beverages from producers of the Region of EMTH, and four cooperation agreements with companies trading and distributing food in the Swedish market, are the first results of the initiative of the Region of EMTH to strengthen its exports to European markets,” noted the Director of Agricultural Development of EMTH, Sotiris Papadopoulos, after the three-day event held in Kavala on 2-5 of June at Galaxy hotel, as part of the initiative “JOURNEY TO GREECE – Business Mission to Kavala.”
During the three-day meeting, 8 representatives of Swedish companies in food import and major supermarket chains had B2B meetings with 30 representatives of businesses from across the Region. The event was also attended by Mr. Argyris Patakakis, Deputy Regional Governor of Agricultural Economy, Environment, and Energy,
This was the first meeting, and the positive results already recorded create the need to continue similar extroversion initiatives that are among the priorities of the Regional Governor of EMTH, Christodoulos Topsidis, as they significantly contribute to the development of the local economy.
The meetings on the first day included product tastings from participating businesses and their evaluation, while on the second day, B2B meetings took place between businesspeople and producers. The program also included tours and familiarization with the sights of Kavala.
In a statement, Deputy Regional Governor of Kavala, Theodoros Markopoulos, summarized the results of the two-day meetings, emphasizing that “Extroversion is a priority for the administration of Christodoulos Topsidis, and we are planning many initiatives to maximize our exports.
The B2B meetings with executives from the Swedish food market bring the businesses of the EMTH Region, with their high-quality products, closer to the countries of northern Europe, so that consumers can become acquainted with them and seek them out on supermarket shelves.
This initiative, funded by the Region of EMTH, had positive results and will continue to support the export character of our businesses.”
