Greek Wine Industry Showcases Its Strength at London Wine Fair 2026

Greece’s participation in London Wine Fair 2026, the United Kingdom’s leading trade exhibition for the wine industry, concluded with great success. Held from 18 to 20 May at Olympia London, the exhibition once again brought together key players from across the global wine trade.

Each year, London Wine Fair serves as the premier meeting point for the British and international wine sectors, attracting importers, distributors, retailers, supermarket buyers, hospitality professionals, sommeliers, journalists, and industry opinion leaders. This year’s edition welcomed more than 10,000 trade visitors, offering opportunities to discover emerging trends, innovative products, and the latest developments shaping the future of the global wine industry.

A total of 475 exhibitors from around the world participated in the exhibition, reaffirming its international character and its position as the UK’s most important commercial platform for the wine sector. Companies and organisations from countries including France, Italy, Spain, the United States, South Africa, Japan, Georgia, Ukraine, Ireland, and Greece highlighted the diversity and dynamism of today’s global wine market.

31 Greek Wineries at the National Pavilion

The Greek participation was among the largest and most organised of recent years, with 31 wineries presenting their labels and showcasing the strength and diversity of the modern Greek vineyard to an international professional audience.

The Greek National Pavilion was once again located in a highly prominent position at the centre of the exhibition, attracting a steady flow of visitors throughout the three-day event. Of the 31 participating wineries, 18 were supported by the Regions of Central Macedonia, Crete, and Thessaly in cooperation with the Larissa Chamber of Commerce, 10 participated with the support of Enterprise Greece, and 3 joined as independent exhibitors.

During the exhibition, more than 1,000 trade visitors attended the Greek Pavilion, including representatives from major UK wine trade companies such as Waitrose, Sainsbury’s, Aldi, Hatch Mansfield, Mentzendorff, and Friarwood, demonstrating the growing interest of the British market in Greek wine.

The Greek participation was honoured by the visit of H.E. Ioannis Tsaoúsis, Ambassador of Greece to the United Kingdom, as well as Ms Paraskevi Kampouroglou, Minister Counsellor for Economic and Commercial Affairs at the Office for Economic and Commercial Affairs in London.

Wine Bar: The Heart of the Greek Pavilion

A key attraction within the Greek Pavilion was the specially designed Wine Bar & Free Tasting Area, which served as the central hub for wine tastings and the promotion of Greek wines.

Visitors were given the opportunity to taste three representative wines from each participating winery, providing a comprehensive overview of the diversity of Greek grape varieties, winemaking styles, and the distinct terroirs found across the country.

All wines featured at the Wine Bar were included in a dedicated tasting guide produced by RECO EXPORTS, offering detailed information on each label and winery and facilitating direct engagement between producers and trade buyers.

The Wine Bar was supported by experienced wine and gastronomy professionals from the United Kingdom, whose expertise contributed significantly to the presentation of the wines and the effective communication of their unique characteristics to the international audience.

Masterclass “Greece – Meet the Locals”

One of the highlights of the Greek participation was the special masterclass entitled “Greece – Meet the Locals”, which took place in the exhibition’s dedicated “The Tasting Space” venue.

The session was presented by Master of Wine Demetri Walters, one of the United Kingdom’s most respected wine professionals, with nearly two decades of experience in both retail and wholesale wine sales through Berry Bros. & Rudd.

For the masterclass, eight wines were carefully selected from wineries exhibiting within the Greek National Pavilion, offering attendees an opportunity to discover the uniqueness of Greece’s indigenous grape varieties and gain insight into the contemporary landscape of the Greek wine industry. The event attracted a full audience of 35 participants, including buyers, sommeliers, distributors, and wine enthusiasts, demonstrating the growing interest in Greek wines within the UK market.

Greece Strengthens Its Position in the UK Market

London Wine Fair 2026 once again confirmed that Greek wine continues to gain momentum in one of the world’s most influential wine markets. Through targeted promotional activities, wine tastings, business meetings, and educational presentations, Greek wineries were able to showcase the quality, authenticity, and diversity that distinguish the modern Greek vineyard.

As organiser of the Greek participation, RECO EXPORTS remains committed to supporting the international growth of the Greek wine sector by creating valuable networking and business development opportunities in key export markets. Through initiatives such as London Wine Fair, RECO EXPORTS continues to contribute to the strengthening of Greek wine’s international presence and reputation, helping Greek producers connect with global buyers and expand their reach in competitive international markets.
