A. Sioulis: Greek Wine Has All the Credentials to Enter the Asian Market

The aim of the live streaming event titled “Hong Kong, Asia’s wine hub. Opportunities for the Greek wineries in a post COVID-19 era and the Italian success story,” organized by RECO EXPORTS in collaboration with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, scheduled for Thursday, June 11th at 11 a.m., is to create substantial opportunities and prospects for the development of Greek wine exports in China.

RECO EXPORTS

RECO EXPORTS, as a British export management and development company, holds extensive experience in international trade. It is the exclusive organizer and representative of major F&B sector exhibitions in the UK, Scandinavia, the Middle East, the Iberian Peninsula, and Asia.

With knowledge of the market, RECO EXPORTS maintains strong relationships with the Chinese market and Hong Kong, both at the buyer and institutional levels, such as the Hong Kong Trade Development Council. It also acts as the exclusive representative of the most significant wine fair for Hong Kong and China, the Hong Kong International Wine and Spirits Fair.

CHANNEL OF COMMUNICATION WITH CHINA

“The purpose of this event is to establish a communication channel between Greek Wine and the Chinese market and to highlight new significant opportunities for Greek wine in Hong Kong and China, which is the second-largest wine importer worldwide,” states Antonis Sioulis, General Manager of RECO EXPORTS, emphasizing that “we want to connect Greek wine with Hong Kong and subsequently with China, an opening market for the rest of Asia.”

GREEK WINE CAN ENTER ASIA

Mr. Sioulis explains that the high quality of Greek wine produced by small Artisan and Boutique wineries as well as larger units, has all the credentials to compete in the global wine market.

“Italy, France, and Spain have the largest market share globally, with Austria and Georgia, among other major wine-producing countries, gaining market share in recent years through strategic moves and promotional activities. Greece can do the same.”

ITALY’S SUCCESS STORY

A key segment of the live-streaming event is how Italy leveraged the strategic position of Hong Kong to successfully establish itself in China and from there, in the rest of Asia.

Eight participants with extensive experience in their fields will discuss the wine market in China, share their insights, and examine the prospects of the development of Greek wine in China, as well as the steps required for a proper and stable penetration into profitable markets.

Gianluca Mirante, Director, Italy, HKTDC, and J.C Viens Wine Communication Expert, recognized for their efforts to put Italian wine on the map, will share their success story, which can serve as a guide for Greek wine exports.

Antonis Gravanis, Director of the International Trade Shows Department for Agricultural Products, Food, and Beverages at Enterprise Greece, with extensive experience in international exhibitions, will talk about Enterprise Greece’s strategy for promoting the Greek brand in China and Asia.

Antonis Sioulis, General Manager of RECO EXPORTS, with extensive experience in international trade and strategic penetration, will discuss strategies followed by other organizations in other wine-producing countries.
